Vacant Position for Member of the Parliamentary Service Commission
The Parliamentary Service Commission is established under Article 127 of the Constitution of Kenya to among other things, provide services and facilities to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of Parliament.
Article 127 of the Constitution provides that the Parliamentary Service Commission shall consist of, among others, one man and one woman appointed by Parliament from among persons who are experienced in public affairs, but are not members of Parliament.
The Commission now invites applications for one (1) vacant position for the male non-MP Member of the Parliamentary Service Commission under Article 127(2)(d) of the Constitution.
The vacancy is to be filled by Parliament as provided for under Article 127(2)(d) of the Constitution.
Please note that there is currently no vacancy for the one woman Commissioner under Article 127(2)(d) of the Constitution and accordingly only qualified male candidates are eligible to apply.
A person is qualified to be appointed as a member of the Parliamentary Service Commission under Article 127(2)(d) if the person —
(a) is not a Member of Parliament;
(b) is a citizen of Kenya;
(c) holds a degree from a university recognized in Kenya;
(d) has at least ten years experience in public affairs; and
(e) meets the requirements of leadership and integrity set out in chapter 6 of the Constitution.
